Just want the essential bits: A single POV of the 23-year-old Main Female Character, Rowan. The male lead is the mysterious Callan who has a Scottish lilt. Paranormal romance, slow-burn, minimal spice (1 scene, no kink), strangers to adversaries to lovers, great pace, sucks you in from the first chapter and keeps you wondering and engaged throughout, the title is Midnight Mated, but sorry no “fated” matings happen in this one, and it ends with a cliffhanger. List book 1 of the trilogy. As of this review, the next book in the series is expected in December of 2023 and I will definitely be waiting and reading it.
Wanna know more: Some choice sentences from the first page, “Men are trash. Worthless piles of fxcking trash. … I was always the one who got hurt.” To put it mildly, 23-year-old, Rowan, doesn’t deal with cheaters, and while leaving him in the dust she is run off the road by a big@$$ wolf that attacks her. Upon waking she learns of a paranormal world, that the wolf that attacked her has killed two others, and that she is a possible shifter. With no home to call her own, a totaled car, and minimal funds she decides to take Alpha Wolfe’s proposition to stick around and track her attacker for a vehicle and $10,000.
This is the first shorter novel at 174 pages that I have rated a 5. The pace was goldilocks for me…not so slow and not too fast…but just right. I didn’t want to put it down. It went by very quickly and it isn’t because it is a shorter book, but more so that I fell into the story and I was watching it in my head…it happens to me more often than not, but it has been a little bit. I can’t wait for Book 2 in the Clover Pack series and a return to that world that Savannah brought to life. If you are a fan of paranormal romance with shifters and witches, love a smart @ss, take no $h!t lead lady, and love a really interesting mystery with laugh-out-loud moments this might be your next read.
